Raft Rental for Your Multi-Day Desolation Canyon Rafting Trip
Are you ready to hit the waters after reading last week’s post about how to prepare for a San Juan river trip? If you weren’t interested in the San Juan river, we offered suggestions to other popular local rivers you might like including the Piedra River, Animas River, Dolores River, Chama River, West Water, Cataract Canyon, The Grand Canyon, Dinosaur National Monument via the Green and Yampa Rivers, and Desolation and Gray Canyons via the Green River.
Regardless of which local river you choose for your adventure, Southwest Raft and Jeep can provide you with the ideal raft rental for your single day or multi-day trip. Let’s talk about what you can expect on a Desolation Canyon rafting trip.
Desolation Canyon Rafting Trip
If you’re thinking of rafting the Desolation and Gray Canyons, you should prepare for a multi-day trip since the canyons are too extensive to be rafted in a single day. Rafting trips through the Desolation Canyon section most commonly last between 4 and 6 days. Don’t be intimidated by the duration, these trips are perfect for families and individuals alike! For the most part, the waters are calm and tranquil, but the whitewater will build in intensity with each passing day. You can expect to run over 60 exciting class I-III rapids before your trip is through.
What’s Not to Love About Desolation and Gray Canyons?
One of the greatest things about rafting the Desolation and Gray Canyons is the immersive scenery and rich American history. You can expect to raft through beautiful red rock canyon walls and explore incredible rock art sites. Since it’s a multi-day trip, you will have time to camp and hike the many trails off the main river and learn about the significance of local landmarks. Fun fact: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were known to hide out from law at the McPherson Ranch, whose remnants you can visit along the way on your river trip.
